It's Thursday..You know what that means!!!
It means just 3 more days til SUNDAY! Sunday, Sunday, Sunday! The day that we get to see the sport of football at it's finest...and we really get to see which teams start separating from the pack each week!
Now a lot has changed since my last post on here. The last time I posted on here I was the pre season and I was talking about who was good and who wasn't. Well, there are a few surprises in the NFL this year so far, I tell you that. My Detroit Lions are 2-0, just like I said they would be. The Packers are 2-0 too, the vikings are 0-2 just like I said all of them would be too! The shockers though, are the Kansas City Chiefs getting blown out by the Bills and the Lions in horrendous fashion in weeks 1 &2.
I predicted the Bills to be better than everyone thought, but so far they are surpassing that and taking it to another level. Speaking of another level, that's where Cam Newton has been playing as well. Imagine that, so far Cam Newton is beating out Sam Bradford's second year in his rookie year, but he makes how much less? around 40 million less? Cam Newton took quite a low deal compared to former #1 picks of Matthew Stafford and Sam Bradford...and so far his rookie year has been better than both of theirs were...and I would still take him over Bradford, but not Stafford because he is KILLING the other teams. It is great to see him not injured for once.
While I'm talking about Bradford, his team (The Rams) are in the NFC West is being led by...the 49ERS!? The funny thing about that is last year I predicted the 49ers would be good. Then they made me look like an idiot and I bailed on them this year. At this point in time it looks like I was off a year haha. Alex Smith....is actually playing pretty good ball at quarterback. You know who isn't? Kerry Collins, the new(and old at the same time) QB for the Colts...and boy do the Colts suck without Peyton Manning. To give you an idea of how bad they are, they lost to the Browns. The Browns lost the week before...to the BENGALS!
In that same weekthey had the Steelers getting absolutely destroyed by the Ravens, then the next week the Steelers blew out the Seahawks while the Ravens got wrecked by the Titans...who just lost to Jacksonville. Probably because of their rushing yards being horrible that game. Which was crazy because Chris Johnson just spent a whole crap load of time off holding out saying he deserves more millions on his contract. Then they hand him mega millions lottery money and he rushes for only 24 yards.
So now all of the divisions are showing a little bit of light. The AFC North is all tied up at 1-1, the Miami Dolphins are in serious trouble being 0-2 in the NFC East as the Jets, Patriots, and the Bills are all now 2-0..and being down two games to your entire division is going to be hard to get out of. The NFC South all lost their first games to NFC North teams in week 1 except the Panthers (who still lost), which is funny because a couple days prior I read an article on NFL.com by an "expert" who said the NFC South was the best division in football. Then he went ahead to say the NFC EAST was better than the NFC North too. Which reminds me of another surprise, the Washington Redskins are the only undefeated team in that division. They actually beat the giants to get there, cause somehow Rex Grossman turned into the best QB ever. Brett Favre must have gave him some left over "good QB" juice because he figured he needed it more or something.
However there are no surprises in the Patriots and Jets going 2-0, the NFC South being neck and neck with each other, The Houston Texans taking a lead in the AFC South, and the entire NFC West only having two wins combined out of the possible eight.
I can't wait for Sunday because it's another day when you finally get to see more of who will be good and who will be horrible. I am interested in Detroit's game against Minnesota since Detroit's my team and Minnesota is a division rival. Can Minnesota pull an upset and even things out? Or will the Detroit Lions move to 3-0 and take the division lead? Also what's interesting is the game between the Patriots and the Bills. Two undefeated division rivals. One team is going home undefeated still with a game ahead, the other will finally have a loss; A very important win for both teams, but if the Bills can pull this off it would mean something remarkable.
That's all I have to say about football on this Thursday afternoon (except maybe that Seattle should start Whitehurst). Thanks a lot for reading. Hope it was as swell for you as it was for me.
